Business opportunity "Procedure on Snail Farming"

How to start Commercial Snail Farming Business In Nigeria
Snails are very easy to rear. They do not bite, kick, bark, sting or harm and they don’t mess up the environment like other livestock. Snail farming is a business that does not require millions of naira. If land/space like one room size is available, then you don’t have problem. With N180, 000 anyone can start

How to venture into snail farming
Snail Farming in Nigeria is very lucrative and easy to manage, snail farming does not require much technicalities or capital as snails can easily be picked around. With little structure and fund, you can set up your snail farm. .

The giant West Africa snail called Achatina Marginata is the most desirable specie for snail farming due to its high yield capacity. Achatina-Achatina is very good for commercialization as well, because of its profitability. This is because of the volume of eggs it lays at once. Each achatina lays 300 to 500 eggs at a time in clutches, three times a year.

Here are steps to start up a small scale snail farm:

Get a structure

Snails are easily dehydrated, and wind increase the rate at which they lose moisture which leads to dryness. To prevent snails from losing water so quickly, your snailery (the snail house) must be located in an environment that is protected from wind. A low plain, downhill site surrounded with enough trees is perfect for snail farming. You may plant plantains and bananas around your snail farm to prevent the impact of wind.

Get the right soil

Snail’s major habitat is the soil, and soil contains some of the components and chemical substances that it needed to survive. However, not all soils are suitable for snail rearing. The shell of the snail is mainly calcium and it derives most of them from the soil. Snail also lay its eggs on the soil and drink water out of the soil. Hence, the suitable soil for snail farming must contain these elements. Must be balanced, not waterlogged, not too dry, and must not be acidic. The most desirable soil for snail is sandy-loamy soil with low water holding capacity. Clayey soil and acidic soil must be avoided.

Getting the snails for farming

To start up a snail farm, it is advisable to get snails directly from the forest instead of buying from the market after they have been exposed to sunlight and have dehydrated. This is because snails drink a lot of water, so they are easily dehydrated and this stresses them out, and reduces their fertility capacity.
The intending snail farmer could pick the snails from the bush with a very simple technique:

Clear a little portion of land during rainy season and sprinkle spicy fruits like pineapple, pawpaw, plantain, banana etc. at about 5o’clock in the evening, when you go back there about 7pm or 8pm, you will pick up snails suitable for rearing. Repeat the procedure until you get enough quantity.

Another way could be to pick up snail eggs littered in the market place where it is sold and through a technique, check the fertility of the eggs, because some of them must have lost fertility due to the exposure to sunlight. The eggs are later put inside a container containing wet sand and covered with cocoyam leaf. Between 21 to 28 days, the eggs would hatch into baby snails. You start feeding them and gradually you raise a snail farm.”

The Snail House (Snailery)

Snaileries can vary from a patch of fence-protected ground, sheltered from the wind to a covered box if you are breeding in small scale. For larger population of snails, you can dig a trench or make a concrete pen with soil deep of about 10 inches, and cover it with screen or wire all around to prevent the snails from escaping. Remember that snails can reproduce fast and become pests when their breeding is uncontrolled.

Snails love dark and cold places, but make sure the humidity does not drop to levels harmful to the snails. You can use fresh leaves and cloth that is regularly wet to regulate the temperature. Also, the wire is useful in keeping away rats and snakes or other predators from eating the snails in your snail farm. But aside from these bigger predators, you should be wary about smaller ones like ants and termites. Your construction must have these predators in mind.

Snails foods and feeding

Snails especially Achatina mainly feeds on green leaves and fruits though they can utilize other ranges of foods. Feed your snails leaves, fruits, or even formula from the feed store. Aside from food to grow tissues, snails need calcium to grow shells.
Leaves: Cocoyam leaves, pawpaw leaves, okra leaves, cassava leaves, eggplant leaves, cabbage and lettuce leaves.

Why God deserve APPRECIATION all the Time

THINK DEEP AND THANK GOD!

God is indeed Faithful and Good to us:
In a certain health facility in Nigeria, oxygen is administered at the rate of 4,500 Naira per hour for adults and 3,000 Naira per hour for children.
Now, if an adult were to be placed on oxygen for a full day, the bill would be 108,000 Naira for a day, just oxygen. If we extend it to a month (30 days), the amount becomes 3.24 million Naira.
The next time you're tempted to declare that God has been unkind and uncaring to you, just remember this: He gives you about 3 million Naira in monthly benefits, just based on the air you breathe. Can someone remind me what the national minimum wage is at the moment?
If God were to privatize the supply of oxygen to every human being on Earth, at what rate do you think the companies in charge would sell? (The Electricity Distribution Companies are already telling us they can no longer guarantee stable electricity supply unless we agree to a 45% increase in tariff). If He were to deregulate the sale of oxygen to humans, do you honestly think it would be available, even in the black market?
Don't you think the billionaires of this world will buy up everything for their generations yet unborn?
Bottom line: God is good. That you have some yet to be fulfilled needs doesn't make Him less caring or less interested in your affairs. Learn to give Him thanks for those routine "little" things He's done for you. When you actually sit to analyze them, you'll discover they really mean so much.
Almighty God, I thank you ooo what about you?

Too many things divide and draw heavy distinctions between BUHARI and his haters: He loves Nigeria , they hate it. He thinks of Nigerians, they think of themselves and family. He is honest, they are dishonest. He has character, they lack it. He pursues the Hereafter they struggle to have the world in their armpits. He is patriotic, they are greedy and selfish. He serves, they derail and enslave. He is devoid of moral stains, they are immorality personified. His past is clean and shinny, their past hunts them. They are thieves, he catches thieves. They have stolen, he wants to get back the loots. They are insects and pests, he is a powerful and effective insecticide. Fear fear fear, they are afraid of BUHARI. They are running, Buhari is in hot pursuit. They call for division, he works on unity. They say Boko Haram, he calls Nigeria. They want Biafra, he chooses Nigeria. They shout Niger Delta, he advocates Nigeria. They shared money for arms, he is retrieving the money and buying the arms. They sponsored insurgency, he is defeating insurgency. Effects of President Buhari's Agreement with China President

Currency Deal With China To Crash The Dollar By 70% !
President Buhari doesn't have certificate but he sure knows how to make things happen and do what some heroes with unproven Ph.D. can't even dream of...
1.As President Buhari and CBN Governor, Emefiele moved closer to actualizing their promise to strengthen the naira against the US dollars
2.By signing a landmark currency deal with the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Ltd on Tuesday in Beijing, China.
3. The agreement will allow Nigerian who imports mainly from China conclude their transactions in the Chinese currency instead of the dollar
4. The new agreement would see Nigeria-China trades, which accounts for over 70 percent of imports into Nigeria, concluded in the Yuan.
5. Until now over 90% of int'l trades between Nigeria & the world is done in dollars, & in the process putting so much pressure on the naira
6. Nigeria imports almost all it needs from the West, Middle East and Asia.
7. The CBN is expected to diversify a huge chunk of Nigeria’s foreign reserve from the dollars to the Yuan to perfect the agreement.
8. “It means that the renminbi (Yuan) is free to flow among diff banks in Nigeria, & the renminbi has been included in the FXR of Nigeria,”
9. FXR means foreign exchange reserves
10. Lin Songtian, director general of the African affairs department of China’s foreign ministry, told reporters in Beijing ...
11. .. a few minutes after the agreement was signed between the Governors of the nations’ reserve banks..
12. in the presence of President Buhari & President Xi Jingping of China, who is hosting Buhari and top Nigerian officials to a state visit.
13. Lin said a framework on currency swaps has been agreed with Nigeria, making it easier to settle trade deals in Yuan.
14. China has signed currency swap deals with countries ranging from Kazakhstan to Argentina as it promotes wider use of its Yuan.
15. Nigeria would become the clearinghouse for Yuan denominated transactions for the whole of Africa following the agreement.
16. Beijing also signed agreements to develop infrastructure in Nigeria, part of a drive to deepen its ties with Africa.
17. It has offered Nigeria a loan worth $6 billion to fund infrastructure projects.
18. Also, ICBC signed a $2 billion loan deal with Dangote group, to fund two cement plants it plans to build, Lin told Reuters.
19. China’s official Xinhua news agency cited President Xi as telling Buhari that there was huge potential for economic cooperation, naming
20. Naming oil, refining and mining..
21. Nigeria is also considering issuing Panda bonds (mainly Yuan denominated) as against euro bonds because they are cheaper.

TEACHERS or LECTURERS see how you destroy Tomorrow, a must read for all

Teacher Stephen Boah was very sad when he heard about the death of his dear mother in the village. He least expected it because his mum only complained of a slight headache and needed just a first aid medical attention. Teacher Boah rushed to the village to ascertain facts and cause of his mum's death. At the village clinic, the medical doctor invited him  inside his office to explain the circumstances that led to his mum's death. The doctor looked on his table a couple of times before opening his mouth to say; "Teacher Boah, this is the prescription meant for your mother" as he lifted the paper into the air as though he was showing it to God. He continued, "Instead of this drug on this paper before me, she administered this one" showing the empty container to Teacher Boah, "It was thirty minutes later before it was noticed by one of our senior nurses who was also going to get a drug from the pharmacy." The doctor added. "Teacher Boah, we are very very sorry for this mishap. Forgive us." The doctor landed. Teacher Boah asked; "May l please see the two nurses? I mean the one who gave out the drug and the one who administered it." The doctor slapped the office bell on his table and a young nurse rushed in. "Please call me Cynthia Normenyo and Rhoda Agbesi" the doctor instructed. Teacher Boah's heart leaped upon hearing the two familiar names. Teacher Boah was dumbfounded when he finally saw the figures standing before him. They were those two girls he aided to pass their exams. He smuggled their answer booklets out of the exams room for some scouts to copy the answers for them. Each scored A1 in Core Maths and Science, B2 in Elective Maths. In fact their grades could be envied by even a professor. The doctor watched Mr. Boah expecting a certain line of action, but Mr. Boah turned slowly towards the doctor and whispered silently in pain, "l murdered my own mother five years ago."

Are you a teacher? Do you give your students the chance to study and be tested independently? Do you 'write' exams your students are supposed to be writing?

Please don't start killing a friend or family from today. May God be with us all

Dr. Salako Advise President Buhari to save Nigeria Future

Dr. Salako Olarinre wrote:
If the United States is still owing China, then I do NOT think it is wise for Buhari to plunge Nigeria into indebtedness with China.

Chinese are cunningly smart people! I work with them daily. Buhari's government may not know what is behind the loan. By the time the Chinese takes over the Nigerian economy with the influx of their people, working in every sector of the Nigerian economy at the detriment of the Nigerian people, then the Nigerian people will know that President Muhammadu Buhari is not helping us with this unnecessary loan. President Buhari should look around, at least Cameroon is nearby!

Tell President Buhari there is no cheap loan anywhere, you can only become subservient to your creditor.

There are better ways to recover a large sum of the looted money to fund your government. By the way, it is the duty of your presidency to reform the judiciary system of the country. If you need to do that now, do it.

You can not have over 200 billion dollar in the hands of looters (home and abroad) and then be running around to beg for 2 billion dollar loan from China. To me, it is simply silly!

Jailing the looters should not be the topmost priority, but getting the stolen money from them should be the 1st priority, in order to help the nation out of the woods. In order to rebuild Nigerian infrastructures and build strong economy.

There are ways of doing that, Mr President!

If your primary aim of fighting corruption is to jail the looters, then you missed it. After all, some of the people who sponsored your election also took undue advantage of the country.

Your first objective of fighting corruption should be to recover the stolen money (as much as possible) and set a new order! Then, if you are able to send some people to jail through the process of court, so be it.

By the way, where is Baba Obasanjo, Mr Navigator, to tell his old solider colleague NOT to plunge our country into indebtedness, for the future generation. I am almost sure OBJ won't take such loan in this circumstance! He will rather pursue the thieves and get them to refund the stolen money!

SARAKI IS NOT GUILTY FOR WE ARE THE GUILTY ONES

Oyeleke Olayinka wrote:
As Michael Wetkas the EFCC operative who conducted the forensic analysis of Bukola Saraki's accounts gave testimony before the code of conduct tribunal it immediately became as clear as crystal why Saraki tried everything possible to stall his trial.
As the Detective reeled out his findings, one wondered how Kwara State is still existing on the map after such alleged pilfering.
No, this can't be true. How can a person pay in 600 to 900,000 fifty times in one day, with the aim to avoid the sacred amount of 1 Million that triggers an automatic red flag to the Serious Fraud Office of the NPF and Financial Intelligence Unit of the EFCC .
But despite this Saraki is not guilty.
Nigerians are the guilty ones for sitting quiet while Societe Generale Bank was brought to its knees by this same Saraki. Scores lost their life savings as the Bank was run like a personal kingdom where absolute power holds sway and of course such power corrupts absolutely.
To see grown men cry is not a figment of my imagination for as a student of Medilag in which Societe Generale Bank was the only rival to the old haggard Union Bank in Idi-Araba, I personally watched the horror show of the collapse of that bank.
There was no restitution. No one went to jail for gross financial mismangement. And the only one who escaped the horror was Jay Jay Okocha who was indemnified his huge losses by the Government because of his celebrity status as a national soccer icon.
Many others were not so lucky. Nurses, Doctors and students were left to scramble for furniture and tables in lieu of their life savings as the collapse of Societe Generale bank is as clear in my memory as yesterday. Even the louveres in the banking hall and car tyres of the banks official vehicle were unbolted by angry customers in the mad scramble for a few assets of the bank which could offset their loss.
And upon this platform isn't it foolishness to elevate the same unrepentant architect of this grand collapse to the corridors of Government house. But alas the guilty Kwara people decided to go down this road to perdition.
Yes the state treasury is his reward for being born with a silver spoon into the political dynasty of the priviledge.
Human beings not ghosts were willing conduits in the alleged mass movement of money from Government house to private bank accounts from which it was converted into dollars to buy palatial homes overseas and live like gods amidst the poverty of the masses.
Indeed he is not guilty. It is the people that failed to blow the whistle when these acts were going on that are guilty.
It is the people that queued up for a morsel of Amala and gbigiri dished out from the corridors of the Sarakis like a mess of porridge which they failed to realise was a guise to obtain their birthright to the dividents of democracy in exchange for perpetual servitude, that bare the guilt.
Stomach infrastructure replaced good governance and now we want to blame Saraki for doing what "others" were doing. Or did he do more than Ibori and Alams who despite all the evidence against backed by their conviction by a court of competent jurisdiction are seen as shininng Knights in spotless armour until they were rendered indisposed.
Release Ibori today from jail in the UK and I can bet my last kobo that he will return to a hero's welcome.
"Triumphant home coming of our dear son"
"A Prince comes home"
"James Mandela Ibori you are welcome back"
Will be the littany of placards that will line the runway as Ibori returns like a mighty conqueror instead of being pilloried with rotten tomatoes.
But that is the social fabric of Nigeria. We love our captors who have held us hostage for so long that Stockholm syndrome has set in.
There is no semblance of unity for ethnoreligious bias pushes us to protect the guilty.
Why should 60 SANs leave their booming practice to defend a Senate President when only 1 can speak in court at a time?
Why should 30 to 90 Senators follow Saraki to court in a show of solidarity without thinking twice about what their constituencies think and feel about this incident?
Besides the courts are as lame as a lame duck thus are unlikely to find a big and powerful man guilty when he can hire a battalion of SANs. And with the case of Ricky Tarfa on show it is not misplaced to allege that some judges are in the pockets of these ubiquitious SANs hence wherein can justice be found.
Saraki is not guilty. We all are. How many Nigerians can resist the trappings of power enriched by Ghana Must Gos of hard currency? How many can think of the suffering masses when their generations yet unborn have not been catered for so that the dynasty may live on.
In less than 24hrs the Panama papers has forced out the Prime Minister of Iceland. Saraki soldiers on because he is not guilty.
Who will dare protest again him in Kwara State after eating his Amala? That is pure greed. Who will dare call for his resignation after enjoying Special assistant status under him? Only a mad man.
Nigerians are guilty of creating our own problems. How else will one describe the elevation of Saraki to the Senate Presidency when in other climes he should be making license plates in a state penitentiary.
Saraki is innocent. We are the guilty ones.

People Are Horrified That Facebook's Hidden Inbox Is Hiding Incredibly Important Messages

Facebook has a hidden message folder where it filters messages it thinks you don't want to see -- sometimes with serious and unintended consequences.
Users are complaining about not seeing messages from since-deceased family members, people reaching out to help them, and even people contacting them to let them know their friends have died.
Back in October 2015, the social network revamped its messaging system.
Previously, you had your "Inbox," and an "Other" folder where messages from people who aren't friends or friends-of-friends would end up. But it replaced this second folder with "Message Requests" -- which let people you're not connected with ask to be able to talk.
But what very few people realize is there is now also a third category of messages: Filtered Message Requests. These filtered messages are what Facebook thinks is spam, and so doesn't even notify you about. They're also not easy to find.
There has been a spate of articles over the last few days explaining how to access them. Judging by the reaction on Twitter, almost no one knew it was there.
A lot of the time, the feature appears to be fulfilling its purpose pretty well -- protecting people from strangers' spam they've got no interest in viewing.
facebook messenger hidden folder death daniel emery
Daniel Emery
The message Daniel Emery received informing him his friend had died -- and which he only discovered two months later.
But there have also been cases of it hiding far more important messages, meaning their intended recipients only see them when it's far too late.
Former BBC technology journalist Daniel Emery contacted Business Insider after reading our story and checking the "filtered" folder out of curiosity.
He told us that back in February, the partner of an old college friend messaged him to tell him that his friend had died -- but the message was filtered, so he only saw it today, two months later.
Emery said: "He was a friend of mine from when I was a student in Aberdeen. Used to be a good mate, obviously lost touch a few years ago, as you do."
He had thought about reaching out, but never got round to it -- and then saw the message letting him know his friend had "popped his clogs."
"So its his partner -- I don't quite know who she is -- picking up the pieces ... it's all a bit strange really."
Emery's not the only one to have experienced something like this.
Matt Spicer, from Bristol, England, said that his wife started crying after discovering the "filtered" inbox -- because it contained a message sent by her cousin, who died before it was ever read.
And Brittany Knight wrote on Twitter that she lost her passport and missed the message from the person trying to return it to her due to the filter.
There are many more cases like this. Some are recent, while other messages appear to have been sent before the Filtered Message Requests inbox was introduced, and were then automatically moved to it once it was launched -- all without ever being read.
The situation is made doubly frustrating by the fact that one of the big reasons for the change to Message Requests (and Filtered Message Requests) is to prevent things like this happening.
Tony Leach, a product manager at Facebook, told TechCrunch back when Message Requests launched: "We’ve heard so many stories like estranged parents trying to get back in touch, or you lost your wallet and someone trying to get in touch with you ... That’s why we want to replace that with a system that makes it a lot easier to catch the messages that you want to see."
Clearly, this hasn't been a complete success.
But what can Facebook do about this? It's a tricky one. If it errs on the side of caution, and filters more, then important messages will continue to fall through the cracks. But if it relaxes its filters, then more spam will likely get through too -- and people will complain. (Facebook did not immediately respond to a request for comment.)
Daniel Emery, who missed the message telling him of his friend's death, would like Facebook to modify its messaging feature to add a more straightforward spam folder.
"Gmail and Google, for all its flaws, has a pretty sensible system," he told Business Insider. "There is a folder for spam, you can look into it if you want, you can pull things out. It's not hidden from you, and I think the issue with this is it's kind of a bit too much 'nanny state.'"
He added: "Facebook is trying to be overprotective. Overprotective comes at a cost, and things like this happening are exactly that ... hiding it is never a good thing."
If you want to check your Filtered Message Requests in the mobile app, load up Settings, then click on "People," then click on "Message Requests," then click on "See filtered requests." If you're on the desktop version of Facebook, click on the drop-down Messages tab, then on "Message Requests," then press "See filtered requests."

8 Things Exceptional Thinkers Do Every Day

Everything that we are and everything that we are not is an end result from our current level of thinking. Every great achievement in history came from exceptional thinking. Every man or woman to ever rise to the top of their profession had exceptional thinking that played a major role in getting them to where they are.

I have never met a high achiever who lacked in their level of thinking. Our feelings, emotions, professional success and happiness levels are all affected by our thinking and what takes place on a daily basis from the neck up.
If you aren’t currently happy with where you are at in life or in your professional journey, there is great news. You can drastically alter where you are and everything around you by changing your thinking. Just like any other important habit, you can’t become an exceptional thinker if you practice it only once in awhile. Working on your mind and thinking must become a daily practice.
Here are eight things exceptional thinkers do daily.

1. They focus on the positive.

Every single day of our lives, we have a choice when we wake up in the morning whether we are going to direct our focus on the positive or negative. Exceptional thinkers know the importance of where they direct their focus. They fully understand that it impacts their energy levels and will determine how they perform. You can eliminate a lot of the worry, stress, and anxiety just by choosing to focus on the positive. Regardless of how big or small, force yourself to see the good in every situation no matter how miniscule it may be.

2. They spend time in solitude.

Exceptional thinkers know that we live in a noisy and distracting world and therefore prioritize the importance of spending time alone. If you go pick up an autobiography of your favorite inventor, president, or even athlete, you will realize that they valued alone time to reflect and think in solitude.

3. They have a long-term vision.

Exceptional thinkers have a clear vision of where they want to be in the future and all of the things that they need to do in order to make that become a reality. They rarely get discouraged and disappointed because of short-term obstacles because of this powerful long-term vision that they have for their life.

4. They have a mindset-development routine.

Whether it’s a special morning routine to jump start their day, reading positive books first thing in the morning, or listening to empowering podcasts and audiobooks while commuting, they go to work on their mind daily. Most people wait for something positive to happen throughout their day to have good thoughts, but exceptional thinkers are proactive towards positively developing their mind every chance they get.

5. They only associate with those who build them up.

There is nothing more detrimental to one’s thinking than hanging around others who are constantly negative and energy vampires. You adopt the habits and channel the energy of those around you, so make it a habit to surround yourself with positive people and remain in good company.

6. They eat clean and healthy.

A large majority of the population is oblivious as to what you put into your body on a daily basis and how that plays a role in your thinking. What you drink and eat every single day greatly impacts how you feel and how well your brain operates.
To further understand just how important what you eat is to how well you think, I highly recommend checking out Dr. Mark Hyman and Dr. Daniel Amen. Two of my favorites when it comes to brain optimization and thriving on all cylinders.

7. They find time to regularly workout.

I have talked about the benefits of working out and how it can tremendously impact productivity levels, but the same goes for brain health and increasing your current level of thinking. The endorphins released during routine exercise are packed with positivity.

8. They have an attitude of gratitude.

Your thinking and life in general is just that much better when you possess an attitude of gratitude and find ways to regularly acknowledge all that you are grateful for. It’s impossible to be truly grateful and miserable at the same time.
There are a lot of things that exceptional thinkers do on a daily basis to help them rise above, but the above eight things that I have listed have greatly impacted the way I think on a daily basis. When you understand just how important your mind is and work to constantly upgrade your level of thinking, your life will be upgraded in return.

The 5 Leadership Lessons That Fixing Cars Taught Me

The 5 Leadership Lessons That Fixing Cars Taught Me by Mark Woodward

At 17, I didn’t think much about what I’d do with my life beyond racing my motorcycle and working at a local garage. My job as an auto mechanic, though an extension of my interests, felt disconnected from my idea of “real life,” which I assumed would happen at some later point, in adulthood.

But, fast-forward a number of years, well, a lot of years: Now that my so-called real life has begun, it’s clear that that first job was more than just a way to save up for a new car and stay out of trouble.
In fact, the job not only guided my career path in unexpected ways but taught me what it meant to be a hard worker and an effective leader. I already knew how to fix cars, but being a mechanic taught me how to solve problems. Specifically, I learned how to confront seemingly insurmountable challenges with tenacity and curiosity. I took these skills with me as I went on to become a computer programmer, sales manager and, eventually, a CEO.
Here are the five things I learned about leadership from working as a mechanic:

1. Get your hands dirty.

We often think of leaders as visionaries who delegate the execution of their great ideas to others in the company. In my experience, however, great ideas come from people at every level of the organization.
The best leaders are builders and facilitators: They intentionally create a culture that encourages creativity, big thinking and hard work. A key piece of developing that culture is wholehearted participation in the work. Because your actions and attitude set the tone, your focus and grit matter just as much as your vision. This is true whether you work at a garage or in the corner office.

2. Trust that you’ll find a solution.

As a mechanic, I got used to encountering challenges on a daily basis because every client came to the garage with a problem. Sometimes, they were easy fixes. Often, though, they were complex and vague: “Something is off with the engine,” or, “I hear this awful sound when I accelerate.” It was my charge to resolve these problems with a finite toolbox.
I learned that with a little bit of cleverness, out-of-the-box thinking and, occasionally, brute force (toward the car, not the owner), I’d figure it out. I couldn’t tell you exactly how I’d do it, but I knew I’d find the solution. I’ve since applied the same thinking to complex business deals as I once did to frozen bolts in hard-to-reach parts of a car engine. By continuing to grapple with tough problems, day in and day out, I've developed confidence in my ability to set a goal and then power through until it’s met.

3. Focus.

It’s human nature to panic when things fall apart at a critical moment, but I’ve observed how some people actually get calmer when things go wrong. This is absolutely a skill that can be honed and cultivated. When challenges arise, it’s critical to take a moment, focus on the one or two top things to prioritize and then decide how best to rally your team around that direction.
To paraphrase Steve Jobs, what you choose not to do is just as important as what you choose to do. When faced with a mess of a problem -- whether you’re running a major corporation or fixing a car in an auto shop -- don’t take on too much. Take a deep breath. Focus on the one thing you can do immediately to have the biggest impact. Then, repeat.

4. Be curious about how things work.

Fixing a car -- especially if you’re taking one apart and putting it together again -- requires understanding how every part of the machine fits together. You need to consider the overall problem while solving it piece by piece at a detailed level.
Successful business leaders do the same: They keep the big picture in mind while thinking about how each part of the company -- department, individual, product or campaign -- fits into the larger vision. They consider how these components advance the vision, and empathize with the people who are experts at each one.

5. Balance self-reliance and teamwork.

Leaders figure out where the company needs to go, and build a team that will work together to get there. No matter how talented you are as an individual, it’s impossible to have a meaningful impact all on your own. Aspiring leaders tend to be self-starters, so this lesson can be tough to internalize.

As a mechanic, and indeed throughout much of my life since, I've relied on myself. I took pride in my ability to solve problems independently. Now that I’m a CEO, I’ve realized that leadership involves balancing my individual efforts and the work of the broader team. As with any complex machinery, the whole of a business is far greater than the sum of its parts.

5 Things Warren Buffett Does After Work

When the Oracle of Omaha talks, people make pilgrimages. In fact, thousands of Berkshire Hathaway shareholders flock to the tiny town of Omaha, Nebraska each year to hear him talk about investing.
Of course, if any business leader can command that level of devotion, it’s Mr. Buffett. He has practically doubled or tripled his net worth in every decade of his life, and is now worth $67 billion. A single share of his company’s stock? Try $191,396. That's enough to buy a house in any one of the 50 states.

Teach us your ways, Warren!
There are countless books on how Buffett accumulated his wealth (Amazon has almost 20 pages of results under his name). The number of articles about him on sites like The Motley Fool, The Wall Street Journal, and Business Insider is probably somewhere in the thousands.
But there aren’t that many articles on what he does in his spare time after work.
This isn’t surprising. In our current culture of competitive workaholics who regularly work late hours, Buffett’s office schedule is more valuable to readers than his home hobbies. But his famous Zen attitude towards managing, investing and making billions can be largely attributed to his enviable work-life balance.
Here are 5 things Warren Buffett does each day that we could all learn from:

1. Read 500 pages.

Once, when asked how to get smarter, the Oracle held up a stack of papers and said, “read 500 pages like this every day. That’s how knowledge builds up, like compound interest.”
Buffett estimates that he spends 80 percent of his waking day reading at work (financial statements, journals, reports) and at home (newspapers and books). Some of us don’t read that many pages each year.
“I do more reading and thinking, and make less impulse decisions than most people in business.” Makes sense; the better read you are, the more informed you are, the less impulsive you are.

2. Exercise a little.

Buffett once said that his secret to staying young is to “eat like a six-year-old.” This includes drinking up to five Cokes a day. “I’m one-quarter Coca-Cola,” he admitted. (Considering he owns $16 billion in Coca-Cola stock, that’s not too far from the truth.) Keep in mind that the 85-year-old also likes to eat hamburgers, steaks, hash browns and root beer floats.
In 2007 (at the age of 77), he revealed that his doctor had given him a simple choice: “Either you eat better or you exercise.” Buffett chose exercise, “the lesser of two evils.” The simple life change must have worked. After beating prostate cancer in 2015, he still looks happy and healthy.

3. Be grateful, not wasteful.

Following in the footsteps of his hero, Chuck Feeney (who secretly gave away his entire fortune), Buffett is one of the world’s biggest philanthropists. His Giving Pledge also boasts dozens of billionaire signees, including Bill Gates, who have committed half their net worth to charitable causes. Buffett has pledged to give away 99 percent of his fortune during his lifetime.

“If you’re in the luckiest 1 percent of humanity, you owe it to the rest of humanity to think about the other 99 percent.”
He is also famously frugal, so it all works out. Not only does Mr. Buffett live in the same house he bought in 1958 for $31,500 (ironically, it costs significantly more to live next to him). He also likes to treat investors who visit him in Omaha to McDonald’s for lunch.

4. Play a game that requires patience.

Like Chuck Feeney, Buffett has admitted that he manages his ever-growing fortune like he’s playing a game. This isn’t surprising. He enjoys games, and regularly plays financial “mind games” to help him better see patterns in his investments.
He also likes to stay sharp by playing Bridge (which, like Monopoly, takes a notoriously long time to finish). In fact, Buffett likes Bridge so much that he can sometimes be found in an Omaha strip mall, paying $7 to play against retirees.

“It’s got to be the best intellectual exercise out there,” he claims. “You’re seeing new situations every ten minutes...Bridge is about weighing gain/loss ratios. You’re doing calculations all the time.”

5. Have a hobby that’s just for fun.

For Wall Street analysts who often work 100+ hours a week, something as mundane as a “hobby” is inevitably put on the back burner. But Warren likes his hobbies. If you can believe it, he’s a pretty good ukulele player and even writes his own songs. There are YouTube videos of him singing about Coca Cola and playing duets with Bon Jovi.
In fact, there’s probably no better way to end this post than with a video of Mr. Buffett playing ukulele duet for charity with Jon Bon Jovi.
If one of the world’s richest men can afford to be this silly once in a while, we can, too.

Leadership Is Learned From Experience, Mentoring and Failure

Committees don’t create successful startups. A single visionary entrepreneur almost always is the initial implementer of an innovative new venture, but that lone entrepreneur doesn’t have the bandwidth to grow the business alone. He or she needs the multiplier of growing from the “doer” to a team-builder and leader. That’s a big transition, and many entrepreneurs never make it.
These entrepreneurs know instinctively what needs to be done, but they may have no idea how to get it done through others. Some will argue that people leadership is a skill you have to be born with, but I’m convinced that it can be learned from experience, mentoring and failures. The ones who learn quickest are the ones who move from good entrepreneurs to good business leaders.
In my experience working with entrepreneurs and business leaders, I have found no magic formula or recipe to get you there, but there are some key leadership principles that anyone can aspire too and learn from, including the following:

1. Become an ardent student of leadership.

Entrepreneurs who become business leaders study the successes of peers and seek to emulate them. They reach to find mentors who have been there, read books on the subject, and participate in leadership development programs. Leadership requires focus and effort and doesn’t happen by title.

2. Set personal leadership goals and solicit feedback.

Business leadership requires spending more time working on the business, and less time working in the business. You can measure these activities yourself and get validation from your team. How much of your time is spent on futures, strategizing and coaching versus fixing daily crises?

3. Tackle new challenges outside your comfort zone.

If you never push your limits and never fail, you never learn new capabilities. As a new entrepreneur, perhaps you have no experience with hiring and delegating, yet these skills are not rocket science. Don’t be afraid to ask for support from more experienced peers and human resources experts.

4. Celebrate small successes and learn from failures.

People who demand perfection from themselves are rarely good leaders. Learn to celebrate small steps in the right direction and failures that are a source of real insight. Be humble and transparent in involving your team and even your customers in your successes and your mistakes.

5. Recognize and reward leadership successes around you.

Working to recognize and celebrate leadership in others will supplement and solidify your own capabilities. The more often you walk in the shoes of leaders around you, the easier and more natural it will be for you to define and capitalize on your own leadership elements.

6. Demand strong performance and deal quickly with mediocrity.

Recognized business leaders are known for their expectation of excellence from their team -- and from themselves. They do not tolerate mediocrity around them, which keeps their teams highly motivated and proud to be associated with the leader as a role model.

7. Work on improving your communication skills.

Effective leadership requires effective communication, including verbal, written and body-language. Your team, customers and partners need to understand your vision, goals and what is expected of them before they decide to follow you. Great leaders also practice active listening and full attention.

8. Go forward with passion and a positive attitude.

No one wants to follow a habitually grumpy or negative entrepreneur. Business people are naturally attracted to passionate, motivated and enthusiastic peers. A side benefit is that you will feel happier and more fulfilled when surrounded by similar positive people. This is a self-fulfilling prophecy.
To grow from being an entrepreneur to a business leader is a personal challenge and not one that everyone can deal with. The core principles are the same for both -- develop and articulate a vision, act decisively and build personal relationships. The leadership multiplier is required to effectively incent others around you to do the same. How well is that multiplier working for you?

The 'Internet of Things' Is Changing the Way We Look at the Global Product Value Chain

The traditional product value chain has been shaken up with the unstoppable spread of globalization and the universal commodification of goods and services. Globalization has forced companies to adjust and respond.

In fact, Internet of Things (IoT) products are playing a pivotal role in the alteration of B2C relationships, delivery channels and product pricing, and their continued proliferation is shaping the very nature of how we look at the product value chain.
The "Internet of things" refers to objects that can communicate among one other through a network. IoT is becoming prolific and commonplace in everyday objects. And, with experts predicting that the IoT network will consist of some 50 billion devices by 2020, those devices will only become more and more ubiquitous. The IoT revolution is truly just beginning, and it will most certainly will be televised!
Here are four changes coming:

1. IoT allows for unprecedented interactions between manufacturers and consumers.

Credit the interconnectedness of IoT products, letting them, in turn, connect the buyer with the seller. By opening new channels for B2C communication, IoT products are providing manufacturers an invaluable opportunity to reshape a dusty and outdated product value chain. Interacting directly with consumers gives us valuable insights on products; and consumer feedback will help us mold future business and product strategies.
Coffee giant Starbucks put this idea to action when it launched My Starbucks Idea. "Idea" is an outreach website where customers can submit ideas on how to improve the overall Starbucks experience. To date, the site has received more than 200,000 suggestions, and the company has implemented several, from energy-saving LED bulbs to convenient lunch wraps.
While this idea is a bit grandiose and presumably difficult to scale, the intent (and resulting customer satisfaction) is certainly worth consideration, and with help from the IoT's proliferation, it can be more effectively implemented.

2. Improved B2C communications won't benefit just manufacturers.

Improving and prioritizing B2C communications is also a critical component to boosting loyalty and repeat business from consumers. According to IBM, 80 percent of consumers surveyed said they felt that brands didn't know them as individuals.
That statistic suggests that considerable opportunity exists to capitalize on increased communication -- and that brands that succeed in this regard will enjoy a considerable advantage over those who don't.

3. IoT products allow for a unique and modern approach to both cross-selling and upselling.

At our IoT product development company, TikTeck, for example, we sell LED smart bulbs for $9.99 apiece. A smart bulb is just one component in the IoT-populated landscape of automated homes, and it's a fantastic first step to drawing in curious consumers interested in IoT products because of their low-cost barrier.
Once those cosumers have tried (and hopefully enjoyed) our bulb, they're much more likely to come back and try our other IoT offerings, and they're much more likely to create a fully functioning and streamlined "smart" environment in their homes. Meanwhile, we can gather data on usage metrics and consumer behavior, to predict what kind of products people may need; and we can offer them directly through the cloud or our IoT apps.
That's a fantastic cross-selling opportunity, and it's considerably simpler, thanks to the new IoT product value chain.
Also, there's more than just cross-selling possible here: There's also plenty of simplified upselling possible with IoT products. We can sell a fully functioning, feature-heavy product for a very affordable amount, but we can also offer premium features that are restricted behind a pay wall or subscription requirement. That way, consumers can try our products at a low upfront cost, and if they like what we're offering, they'll pay more to access more.
This consumer-direct relationship isn't possible without a low-cost barrier and direct communication tools through apps or cloud computing.

4. Upselling and IoT proliferation can lead to a 'free-mium' business model.

Given this promise of recouping capital through alternative revenues, manufacturers will be able to deliver their product directly to consumers at a very low (potentially zero) cost. This "free-mium" model means that value isn't inherently attached only to the product itself, but to the actual, real-world use of the product. Monetization will come in the form of upgrades, subscriptions, product services or native (in-app) advertising. This will allow manufacturers to innovate by focusing on intangible features, products and applications.

Conclusion

Challenges will arise as the product value chain shifts toward the future. Product differentiation will be crucial for manufacturers, and they will need cost-effective and proven development capabilities, with fast turnaround.
Consumers, remember, are impatient: They want instant gratification, and that patience is only going to grow thinner as processing, handling and shipping becomes automated and streamlined. Manufacturers will need a supply chain that can handle both big and small orders. Those who can't handle these things will be replaced by those who can.
Overall, a revamped product value chain will not eliminate the importance of digital and social media marketing. In fact, it will most likely increase it. It's one thing to develop a good product. But getting consumers to take notice is a whole other beast.

The future is exciting, and as connectivity and IoT spreads like wildfire, businesses and manufacturers that wish to succeed on a global scale will need to be at the frontline of the product-value chain.

12 Qualities of Self-Made Millionaires

Millionaires are willing to do what 99 percent of people aren’t willing to do.
The 99 percent are idling away their time, money, and emotions while seeking approval from others, while the millionaires work to study and master the game of life. When people around them talk about problems, they find solutions. As people are "settling," they are constantly on the move.
Becoming a millionaire is a process. First, there is a lot of personal development involved. This means that you must have solid life skills for basic survival. Once you have these life skills in place, you must procure the professional skills that align best with your natural abilities.
When you acquire these professional skills, you must refine them by seeking advanced training. After you master your skills, you must find systems that either replace you or help you reach a higher level. Following this order will help you to achieve the success you’ve always wanted:
  1. Personal Development
  2. Gain Professional Skills
  3. Master Skills
  4. Create Systems to Leverage Yourself
If you want to learn about how you can get to the next level, there are certain qualities of self-made millionaires that you’ll need to adopt.  Here are 12 Qualities of Self-Made Millionaires:

1. Be confident.

There is no one like you. Your background, genetics, age, and current status can help you to achieve the success that you’ve been searching for. Be different. Be certain of yourself. Be enlightened of your possibilities. You’re already going to be the best at what you do. All you have to do is take what you get to get what you want.

2. Be curious.

A lot of people cheat themselves out of success because they fail to ask the right questions. Instead, they accept the status quo and make erroneous assumptions. Find out why things are the way they are. Learn about the truth and discover what it really takes to be successful. Challenge the norm and never conform.

3. Be excellent.

Becoming a millionaire demands excellence in every area of your life. You must be diligent in all of your affairs. Be a student and master your craft, even if it takes half of the day for the rest of your life. When rising on each level of success, teach others what you learned along the way. It will only lift you higher. Teachers must be students and students must be teachers.

4. Be consistent.

Every day, you must consistently deliver to the best of your abilities. Most people can apply themselves in intervals, but millionaires are constantly producing on higher levels. For me, I’ve been writing at least two articles per week for two straight years. I used to reach dozens per week, now I reach millions per week. I consistently improve my writing. There is unlimited progress in consistency.

5. Be forceful.

People don’t know what they want until you give it to them. Sometimes you have to be forceful with your offerings. Move people to action by creating demand for their needs. Henry Ford was known for saying, “If I asked the people what they wanted, they would have said ‘Faster Horses’” If you keep supplying and proving the need, people will buy what you’re selling.

6. Be fearless.

People will tell you what you can’t do, where you can’t go, and who you can’t be. Forget these people. When I was in college, I failed a class because of my writing ability. Because of this, I dropped out and wrote my book in 10 days. I sold thousands of them and destroyed numerous obstacles along the way. Be fearless and erase all limitations.

7. Be unpredictable.

Most people act so routinely that you can predict their every move. To be more strategic, you must meander your way into different thought patterns, languages, and activities. By consciously creating opportunities for yourself and doing the unthinkable, you’ll be able to exceed your own expectations. Eventually, predictable people will ask you how you did it and you’ll have to give them your unpredictable answers.

8. Be unreasonable.

Unreasonable people change the world. Reasoning too long can often slow you down. It makes you think of the ‘what ifs’ in a negative way. Instead, move with unreasonable action and demand success in every area of your life. Sometimes this means going on 2 hours of sleep to finish reading a book. Do whatever it takes to get to your biggest goal in life, even if it hurts you in the short-term.

9. Be unduplicatable.

No one can copy you if you create a signature style for yourself. Whether you’re wearing bushy bowties or carrying Birkin bags, you need your style to work in your favor. Always say to yourself, “There is no one doing what I’m doing in the way that I’m doing it.” Eventually, your uniqueness will attract the kind of reputation that you’ve been looking for. All millionaires are completely unduplicatable.

10. Be dominant.

Dominating your industry is easy. All you have to do is push a little harder than your competitor. For instance, a famous basketball player told me that most professional basketball players shoot around 500 shots per day. He shoots over 1,000 per day. That’s why he’s a perennial all-star in the NBA. You must mentally accept greatness for yourself and push your mind and body to unprecedented levels.

11. Be controversial.

To become a millionaire, you have to push the limits. You’ve got to ask for things that no one has dared to ask for. Controversy means that you are willing to walk and talk about the subjects that people avoid. Sometimes, you’ll be unpopular for being controversial, but do it anyways. Always push your agenda and help people understand what you’re trying accomplish. If they understand and want to help, bring them on your team.

12. Be universal.

Your theme may not always be accepted by everyone, but you have to constantly plant your seeds. The goal of a millionaire is to be ubiquitous and cultivate a massive appeal. Always ask the question, “How can I deliver more value to more people in less time?” Soon enough, you’ll go from planting 1,000 seeds to 1,000,000 seeds at a time. You can’t control how many seeds will grow, but you can plant more seeds.
Millionaires aren’t born with these qualities. They are developed over a lifetime. If your goal is to become a millionaire, you must be ruthless in all of your endeavors. You must ceaselessly pursue your goal to serve people on the highest level. Take these suggestions and improve the quality and quantity of service that you offer. Your impact equals your income. If you want to make a bigger impact, develop these qualities for the rest of your life and watch your income grow!

Fashola gives reasons for power outage, assures stability soon

The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, SAN, has attributed the recent power outages in some parts of the country to four turbines which stopped working in Jebba, Ilorin, Kwara state capital.
The minister, who also noted that there was currently not enough power to distribute unless more turbines were switched on, assured that electricity supply would be stabilized as soon as three of the four turbines had been restored.
While speaking on Channels Television on Thursday, Fashola said, “Yesterday morning, we had some outages in Jebba but I am happy to report now that all the four turbines that were down, three have been restored, so there is stability now.
“It is important why the power coming from Aba is defining; it’s part of what I’ve spoken about.
“There is not enough power in the country, so how do you share what is not enough such that everybody gets enough? It’s difficult, if not impossible.”
The Minister also expressed confidence that President Muhammadu Buhari’s 10,000 megawatts target would be met, saying “So what we need to do is to get more power on. So about 200 megawatts coming from there is good news for the market,” he said.
Speaking further, Fashola criticized the acts of pipeline vandalism.
He attributed vandalism to be the cause of some of the energy problems in the country.
According to him, “Those who are vandalizing electricity assets, those who are selling stolen cable, those who are not paying their bills and those diverting electricity are all problems.
“Every one of us must contribute something now to solve the problem; it a problem we can solve.
“That will reduce the number of people who are contributing to being the problem,” the Minister stated.
